C-level executives rarely have an intricate understanding of the job of a housekeeper or front desk agent, but for Mark E. Hamister, who passed away on Friday, August 20, 2021, it was a vital part of his job and something that made Hamister Group, LLC a great place to work.
Mr. Hamister met and welcomed every new employee that worked at the downtown Buffalo office, no matter their role. He made frequent trips to each hotel and senior living facility where he spoke to the staff and listened to their concerns and questions. He made you feel very comfortable and able to voice your opinions on anything– even if you didn’t agree with him. He was a larger-than-life personality who was deeply involved in the business that he created from the ground up over 44 years ago.
Mr. Hamister's roots were planted firmly in the Western New York area. His love for the region and his lifelong connection to it, made it the perfect epicenter of the Hamister Group universe. Hamister Group, LLC has become a household Buffalo business, and his dedication to the area earned him numerous local awards including the Buffalo Business First Lifetime Achievement Award and Entrepreneur of the Year for New York State.
He was a family man who cared deeply for his own and made everyone in the company feel like a part of it. Honesty, Integrity, Work Ethic, Accountability, Respect and Trust are company values that Mark Hamister lived every day. As Hamister Group, LLC transitions into a new era under the leadership of son, Daniel Hamister, those values, and Mr. Hamister’s legacy will ring true for many more years to come.
